Our two queen bees and their colonies have been ordered. We originally had ordered Minnesota Hygenics from our local organization of bee-keepers, but they were unavailable as they were already bought up by the commercial producers. So we have ordered two Russian Queens. They should be arriving soon. We are deciding on the place and type of hives for them. In the mean time, we have decided to name our Queens. If they are productive and we bottle their hard work-
We will be labelling the honey so that people know which queen and colony the honey came from.
We want people to know that that the one little lady bee that made it all possible has an identity and is not an anonymous bee. So- The names we decided on are:
"Luba Nonna Sventlana" ( Love Blessed Light) and
"Anya Pavla Vadeslava"( Graceful Humble Ruler)
"Luba" and "Anya" for short-
They should arrive in a few months marked with hot pink for easy identification in the hive.
I think perhaps we shall play some Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, Scriabin, Shostakovich, Stravinsky, and of course Rimsky-Korsakov's "Flight of the Bumble Bee" to welcome them to their new home. We can't wait to meet them.
